Tammy started raising chickens in 2010 after moving to the country the previous year. She didn't consider breeding or showing until she bought her first Silkie, and then she was hooked. She breeds several varieties and has recently started breeding Serama, a tiny chicken breed from Malaysia. She and her husband have a small farm and enjoy sharing their love for animals with everyone, especially their three adult children and 6 grandsons. She has met some of the most wonderful people in the poultry world and they have shared their love and knowledge for raising poultry with her. Her position with the ODPA board and her affiliation as a member will always be to encourage, and to help facilitate learning experiences for others.
Our goal is to promote all breeds of exhibition poultry to the Standard of Perfection as published by the American Poultry Association: and the American Bantam Association. To promote, encourage and renew interest in raising, showing and selling of pure bred poultry through education, mentorship and opportunities for exhibition. To provide a friendly atmosphere for adult and youth members to work together and to encourage one another. To sponsor district, state and special learning exhibitions, shows and other venues to forward the purposes of ODPA.
Old Dominion Poultry Association is committed to helping with your poultry needs. Questions, comments or special requests? We’d love to hear from you, so don’t hesitate to reach out today.
